A month ago, the Municipality of Paciano (UCT) celebrated 4 years of activity of the local weekly market, based on circular economy concepts and methods and included in the dissemination activities of the results of the European LIVERUR Project.
The market has a presence of about 15 operators from the agriculture, crafts and tourism sectors.
The most concrete examples of circularity are the following:
– recovery of by-products and waste from agricultural crops, to make objects for domestic use
or fertilizing material
– repair of objects otherwise destined for landfills
– creation of handicrafts
– recovery of wood material for the construction of the stands
– connection between tourism, cultural, agricultural and social activities: slowtourism, wine tourism, experience tourism, integration of disadvantaged categories and migrant work.
– connection with the Trasimeno Living Lab INTRANET platform
The mayor of Paciano (Luca Dini) wanted to recall once again the fundamental contribution of the European Project LIVERUR and made himself available for future paths of expansion and dissemination of the results of the Project, with the involvement of all the Municipalities that are part of the Union of Municipalities of Trasimeno Lake.
Finally, it was proposed to include initiatives aimed at safeguarding and protecting the environment in the future, with particular attention to the management of public green areas (parks, protected areas, street trees) through proper maintenance and the possibility of recovering woody biomass also for energy purposes. In this regard, a further dissemination phase will be prepared during the National Tree Day scheduled for the month of November.
