FEAD is the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived, which provides food and material assistance to the most vulnerable communities. Food aid is a key part of the FEAD programme. The distribution of aid takes place through the valuable work of volunteers from the various non-profit organizations operating on the national territory. people in poverty by supporting their social inclusion.
Also in the territory of Trasimeno and Perugino there are voluntary associations, such as CARITAS ITALIANA, with points of sale of agri-food products and solidarity canteens. Every week, donations of food products are recorded in excess of ordinary retail or catering activities. It is not waste but material of excellent nutritional quality otherwise destined to become waste. It is possible to estimate flows of over 400 kg of food per week, including those provided by AGEA (Agency for Disbursements in Agriculture), only for the cape town.
The European LIVERUR Project, by supporting circular economy processes, also plays a fundamental role through its stakeholders, in supporting and promoting the recovery of food products as they are or processed.
To name some examples, we recall:
– Trasimeno Fishermen’s Cooperative (fish and derivatives)
